OK - so I have been collecting the 1973 mint set's to mostly pick up the Ikes. So now I have 19 Ikes which I think I will send out to ANACs to grade. Here are some of them ike_5_o.png ike_5_r.png ike_6_o.png ike_6_r.png

These are and will always be simply large nickels. Cheap-made. Not anything that tones well at all. Like collecting pyrite for gold. There’s where the market will be for these cheap things, same as for the Kennedy clads.

I understand how you feel, but aside from the fact that these coins have market value, they have more face value than nickels, or even Flying Eagle cents.

Don’t go crazy on them. You’re in for a let-down if you do. Their market more closely resembles that of the Kennedy clad market than the Morgan or Peace Dollar markets. Just keep that in mind and don’t go off on a whirlwind. There’s market for them, but it’s not what a lot of hopefuls think, is all I’m cautioning.

it is more than I expected and more than your describing, espeically in high grade. Its not for profit. It is for education and fun. The 1973's are legitimately hard to find in decent condition and they out perform morgans in that one specific area.

In MS-65 they are a $30 coin. MS-65's are tough for any date but the prices have really dropped over the years. Believe me I know. In MS-66 or better the prices go up 10X the price of a 65.

I suspect because I intend to send the to ANACS that it will be completely different.

PCGS plastic bring the big money but the grading cost are 3X.
