This coin came my way this past week. I did some research and can’t seem to find any that are gold plated. Any help would be appreciated.

Some were struck in gold. If they followed the same specifications as the 1986 100 francs coins, the silver one weighs 15 grams and the gold is 17 grams. There are also platinum strikes.

...well, that would be a real pleasant surprise! Any other way to tell since I don’t have a gram scale handy.

I suppose you could do a specific gravity test if you have a graduated cylinder

Could have also been gold plated/painted by a third party.
An accidental gold find is probably too good to be true, but one can hope!

From your pictures, the surface looks too grainy to assume it is other than some post mint process.
As written above the gold examples come in Brilliant Uncirculated and proof, and weight 17 grams. BU are rarer.
