I'm feeling like doing a little bored buying at the moment. What do you guys think I should get? Any appealing auctions on ebay or buy it nows?
Something you know nothing about. Cheap, of course. Under ten dollars. Something that should take you a while to understand and learn about.
http://cgi.ebay.com/1896-Canada-Lar...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518ab84c55 I've been thinking about this one for a while.
Jeez, I keep scanning all day for deals and gems on ebay in the coins & bullion section and I just can't find scrap!
Well you didn't mention you were looking for a coin so have you thought about purchasing the Empire State Building? I have some stock in a Buggy Whip Company if your interested. If it's a coin you want, I have a friend that sells many 1913 Liberty Head Nickels and for a really cheap price. Could you use an entire roll of 1916D Mercury Dimes in MS-70 grades? You did want suggestions didn't you? Now here is a great suggestion. Go to Walmart and try to find a product not made in China. And while your there, try asking the employees for thier green cards. :smile In reality it is really difficult to suggest something to buy if you don't know the person's likes or dislikes.
What is cheap to you? You have some pretty expensive coins so your definition of cheap may not be the same as mine. Why not try some of the uncleaned ancient roman or greek coins. Been thinking about that for a while - I know I would not get anything any good, but it would be something new and interesting to try. Then again the first thing I would look for is a decent book on ancients. Plus it really is hard as mentioned by just carl when we do not know the likes and dislikes. You have to admit you do bounce around quiet a bit.
Buy something you like. Flip through a book or look online and find a type of coin you think is attractive and pick one up. To me, cheap is under $20 and a lot of coin types (not all, but a lot) have common date coins in that range. So, I would find a design you like that you don't have an example of yet...and pick up the nicest common date you can find. An example of a coin I like is the Morgan Dollar. If you don't have one, a common date should run in the $20 range for a decent example. They are a great addition to a collection.
I tried a general answer, as this is the general section. hya: I know its not your taste, but since you ask... this is what I would buy: http://bargainbinancients.com/zen/i...d=1124&zenid=fa7cc9a7eb38428821bdea163bfcfa26 The treasure is not just the coin, but the time taken to properly identify it and learn about who issued it. Now someone is going to buy it out from under me.
When I'm in the mood for cheap and interesting I usually browse the tons of ancients for sale here: http://www.vcoins.com/ I'm always amazed at what you can pick up for so little. I may not know anything about ancients, but their neat looking and fun to have. Guy~

Very nice! I actually think that a 1985 proof set was the first thing I bought when I got into collecting (it is my birth year).
