i bought a bag of cents for 5 euro just for fun with over 3 hundred cents in it i thought You never know There are some wheats in here as well but at the moment this 1970s has me beat Large or small There were two so it might make it easy Some nice coins here some cuds but i am injoying myself Dave
I think the one on the left may be a small date. If your pic showed LIBERTY to the left of Lincoln, I could say for sure.
i have been to that site and that is why that why i posted both coins but you have to see the distance the s is from the date allso you have used that site only last month and i have to agree it is a great link but is that the case here dave there is a difference
"you have to see the distance the s is from the date"? Huh?? The site references the letters in "LIBERTY". Your one picture does not even show that. The site references the loop of the 9. Your pictures are too blurry for me to make that out. The site references the top of the 7. Yours all appear to be lower than the tops of the rest of the date. Also, there is a crook on the bend of the 7 on the large date. Yours appear to have it. Again, the bottom of the 7 should be nearly level with the 1 and 0 for teh small date. Both yours appear to be lower.
Wow, this one's tough. At first glance I thought both were large too. But after really looking at them, I think the one on the left is a small and the one on the right is a large. -LTB
ok take your word for that but why is s mint mark more away from the date in both coins in hand one s is large while the other is smaller dave ps thanks
The "S" was hand stamped back them. It can easily wind up nearly anywhere - literally. Sometimes they even wound up in the date or bust. Sometimes up-side-down, or even side ways. However, as I said before, the "S" position has absolutely nothing to do with it being a large/small date.
