I recently picked up a 1943-P 5C MS66FS Doubled Die Obverse and noticed on CAC's site that they do not have a population report for circulated jefferson nickels - only proofs. I did however, type in the coin manually on their coin lookup, and found the coin. Curious, I sent them an email, asking what's up. It seems that they do not accept MS Jefferson Nickels, and that this coin was stickered by mistake...Waiting now to know if it will stay in their system though! Guess it is safe to say I have the only CAC stickered Jefferson Nickel! Please - no debates about CAC, Slabbed Coins, etc, etc, etc... just pointing out something.
If it was stickered by mistake, then just remove the sticker - I wonder if they will ask that, since they really did not approve the coin.

Do people actually order CAC stickers and slap em on coins in their holders? That seems very disingenuous.
No, the coin is sent to CAC in it's slab (PCGS or NGC) and if CAC agrees with the grade they sticker the slab.
I know, but can people buy CAC stickers and slap em on coins to increase the perceived value? Or, take one CAC'er off a coin slab and slap it on another?
They would have to be counterfeit CAC stickers, and furthermore all you have to do is look up the cert # on CAC's website to see if the coin is truly CAC'd. I also don't think it's possible to remove the sticker and put it on another slab. As for the Op's coin, I think it's pretty cool. I wonder how CAC missed that one.
No because the certification number won't match. If you go to caccoin.com and type in the coins cert #, it will show if it was approved. The thing is, this coin WAS entered into their system.. if you type in the coin, it shows: 1943-P 5C MS66FS Doubled Die Obverse ...
The stickers they use are tamper resistant and won't come off without a fight (and rip apart). They also have a verification system that you can type the slab number in and verify the coin is the same one in question. I haven't ever seen a CAC'ed coin that I thought was tampered with.
