    Hello coin people.

We visited a coin show in East Haven Connecticut and found these two coins in a ½ price bargain box. We had to look through a thousand coins to find these two but it was fun.

The first coin is an 1853 Medio Centavo (half Centavo) from Chile. I had not seen one of these in this nice condition before so I grabbed it. All these 1851 & 1853 issued in copper were manufactured in England & the United States. The Krause catalog value is $20 in EF. [IMG]

The second coin is a 50 Centavo from the Philippines dated 1958. This coin is high MS grade & beautifully toned. The Krause catalog value is $1.50 in BU. [IMG]

Let me know what you think of the coins & thanks for letting me share.

    Very best regards,

Thanks for sharing those great coins! I really like Filipino coinage. If you don't mind, how much were they? I love hearing about great deals on world coins!

    total expense was $11.25

The 1853 Chile coin was marked $21.50 The Philippine coin is half dollar size and was labeled $1. Everything was half off so the total expense was $11.25

That Chile coin is nice. I am still missing one in my collection.
Keep an eye out for coins from Chile, specially the earlier issues are scarce in better condition, but they sometimes show up in shows. If you are lucky you can make some good deals.

Sounds like a great deal! :kewl:

Coin shows can be a great place to find world coins. 99% of the people there don't know a thing about them, other than what their SCWC says (if they even have one).
