Ever consider it is a scam?

Just wondering what the thrill of error coins is? Been wondering if some of these "errors" aren't purposefully made. If I worked at the mint, minting coins....I'd be sure to mis-strike a few that happen to "accidentally" make it out into circulation. Considering I saw a off center nickel dated 1994 that was commanding a price of $35. The off centering seemed to be on purpose since the date was so clearly indicated.

The thrill is they are rare and different.

If you worked at the mint today and did what you said you would not work at the mint for long.
These type things have happened in the past and may still on rare occasions but it is the tight security and screening process that make these errors today even more rare.
If you want to read about purpose made U.S. mint errors historically you will find many sources.
