I've started a few different threads on this forum asking questions about gold coin pendants or brooches. If you're on CoinTalk regularly, you know what I'm talking about. I created those threads because I was thinking about buying a gold coin pendant. I know some of you don't like gold coin jewelry but that's okay, if we were all the same we would live in an extremely boring world, trust me! Anyways, back to my pendant, it's a gold ducat! It's a 1738 Hungary King Charles VI ducat, rare coin but years ago someone made it into a brooch. The gold ribbon around the coin is around 14k. The seller listed it as 18k, it's not but I'm still happy with the purchase, to me that fact is small potatoes. The word brooch sounds so 1930's so I'd rather use the word pendant! Anyways, I'll post my own pics another day as I'm having computer issues with my pics. Here's the sellers pics! In hand, this sucker is a beauty!!
It's a beautiful looking coin. IMO a pendant should be on a chain. Brooch (or Clasp) sounds better. lol
What's truly amazing about the coin is one sold in 2000 in a Heritage Auction, it was an MS63 for only $461.15. Yeah that was over 20 years ago, but when you see one for sale on feebay today they sell for thousands of dollars, that's amazing! There's not one on the bay right now and I've heard about inflation but the prices are insane! Feebay link below! What I'm saying is some day I'd like to own an unmolested 1738 ducat! https://coins.ha.com/itm/world-coin...-1738-kb-king-standing-right-hol/a/238-5427.s https://www.ebay.com/itm/1738-Kingd...393896?hash=item23eb1ce1a8:g:6UYAAOSwTB1f66i~
