Favorite Coin THAT YOU OWN

Okay, since that other thread went way O/T.

Lets start this one:
What is your favorite, or three, or five favorite coins that you won?

If you can show a picture, if not, what is the grade? Is it slabbed? How long ago did you get it?

I'll post mine in a bit.

All the coins I own are my favorite ... so i decided to show you my favorite series:

Belgium - Flanders
Minted under the rule of Count Louis de Maele between 1346-1384.

There are seven primary denomination coins included in this series (for lack of better term) I own 3 of them. (Remaining demoninations Chaise d'or 'a l'aigle, Mouton d'or, Vieil heaume d'or, franc'a pied d'or). My collection goal is to have all seven

I have a handful that I would consider my "favorites." I don't think I can pick out just one. But, here are a few and why I like them: Hopefully, I didn't post too many.

1881-S Morgan Dollar
This was the first coin I ever bought. When I first got into coin collecting (later 1990s) I found a little coin shop that didn't have a lot of stuff. I instantly fell in love with Morgan's and bought this one. It's a nice BU with slight PL surfaces and a very common date.

1893-CC Morgan Dollar
This coin is in awful shape, but it's one of the very first key dates I picked up (back in 1998). I know it's been harshly cleaned and isn't worth much...but when you're in the 8th grade and don't have much money, it's the best you can do. I'll upgrade someday but I'll never let this one go.

1917 1 Franc Toned
This is a beautiful French Franc with lovely toning. This coin was given to me by my grandma shortly before she died. It came from her family and was probably picked up oversees during WWI.

1925 St. Gaudens Double Eagle
This is the most valuable coin in my collection...but it is worth more than that to me. This is another coin given to me by my grandma shortly before she died.

1940-F 5 Reichpfennig
This is a coin I recently added to my Third Reich collection. It's a common date, but these coins are very hard to find with any luster at all...let alone as much as this one has. The spotting is a little unfortunate, but I love this coin.

1985-P Jefferson Nickel Error
This is one of the few error coins in my collection. It is a improperly annealed planchet error. I bought it because I thought the error was really cool and it's from my birth year. It was also my first slabbed coin. This coin is graded NGC MS63

Thats a tough one....I love all my coins. But, I do have a certain weakness for this one:

I have three more DB half cents, but that is my favorite. I like showing to people who don't know coins. I'm always amazed by how many are convinced it's a fake, because why would they ever make a half of a cent

I've owned this coin from February. I originally bought it as darkly toned, but I cleaned it, as it is now more attractive (and I am not the only one who thinks so). Since Mn. Cordius Rufus, Syd 977 is my favorite Republican design, it was only natural for me to pick up a brockage error of it. I completely found this by accident too!

My all time favorite coin is in my profile and is my avatar on the NGC forum. It is a gorgeously toned Battle Creek Morgan Dollar that I have dubbed "THE PINK EYE DOLLAR." Photo courtesy of Brandon Kelley.




I would feel remiss if I didn't include my favorite coin from my primary collection. This coin has the most dramatic toning I have ever seen on a regular issue Jefferson Nickel. The grade and strike are equally as impressive as the toning. This coin also resides on the desktop of my computer as revealed earlier this week.




The last coin I have chosen is my favorite commemorative and my most valuable coin. Finding an attractively toned Lafayette Dollar is and arduous task. Most have mottled dark toning that mutes the luster of the coin. This example from the Maddy Rae collection has found a good home in my collection. Photo courtesy of Mark Goodman.

Alrighty then!! Here's one of my favorite gold pieces and one of my favorite bills. I didn't know the George W. would become one of my secret treasures but it defintely is! I have more of my favs in my album, feel free to take a look.

A 1915 1/2 half Gold Sovereign. Excuse the pics but I am absolutely not the one!! I mean I took the pics but I am the last person one who should hold a camera!

Here are some of my favorite coins that I own;

First off, is a 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, that I got from my dad, and he got from his dad, back in 91'. This coin will always have more sentimental value than anything else.




Next, are two more coins that I received from my father, and he received them from his father.





AND NOW.... Here are some of the coins that I have purchased, that I would call my favorites

 

I love these threads. I really. feel like I'm getting to know your coins on a personal level! Lehigh's Pink Eye dollar and t$'s quarter eagle are like family to me.

When you really get down to it, about half of the coins I own are my "favorite." So I'll go for something I haven't posted in a while, even though the scan truly doesn't do justice to the relief:

A very uncommon coin. Most examples on the market are countermarked and come from a single hoard. This is not from that hoard.

I'll have to get back to y'all on that but my avatar is definitely one of them.

 

But the real question is, which photo most accurately shows the coin

 

Really depends on how you hold it. stright on it looks like copper but when you till it any then major toning

 

Oh, I see... Most toning is like that, the right lighting and the right angle, can really make the coin, show its true colors

 

Nice coins so far, here's a few of my favorites, but it's so hard to choose between them

I love this IHC, it's my avatar coin and was my first purchase from Andy of Angel Dees. This thing just blazes luster and is one of my favorites. Paid a little over current retail price for it but it looks better than a lot of the other 66RD examples that are out there too.


This one is really pretty, got it from Kaminski Coin and paid a big premium for the toning, but I don't regret it a bit.


This is the most lusterous Barber Half I own and one of the most lusterous I've seen, especially on a coin from New Orleans. This one is much better than most MS65 Halves and really would be acceptable in an MS66 holder I think. Very pretty subtle lilac toning too is nice. Paid a bunch for it
