A little surprised? Unfortunately, the only thing I can say is, only in America!! Amazing!! People are actually bidding on those bits and pieces! Obviously some ppl have more money than they need... :D

And yet we are willing to spend small fortunes for "little discs of metal" Different people collect different things. If you notice these items were listed under "transportation:aviation". To a collector of this type memorabelia this would be "the holy grail" being from the most famous hijacking never solved.

These have been sold in paper money auctions previously. Maybe they feel they have saturated the paper money market and need to pursue the transportation collectibles market.

differnt folks collect different things. I dont think its right we critisize others for bidding for something they want :) In the end, its all about what makes each of us happy.

I personally think one of these would be very cool. If I had a disposable income right now, I would bid on one of them. I would only be interested in a piece with a complete serial number however...as it would be proof it came from the ransom money.

It's amazing to me how close minded many people are when it comes to hobbies. We are willing to spend so much on a coin that has a face value of "One Cent" yet we turn up our noses at these prices.

I agree with you. I thought this a very cool offering from Heritage. No, I would not bid on them, but I could see someone fascinated in D.B. Cooper wanting one of them.

Actually the proof is already on the sleeve as PCGS had the inventory documentation from the FBI. Each fragment was individually initialed by the agent that did the inventorying. as long as the fragment is in the sealed sleeve there should be no reason to question authenticity.

I have no doubt that it's authentic...each one, but if I were going to spend that kind of money I would want to be able to see the serial number. That way, I could look it up myself and see that my note was one of the ransom notes. That's just me. I have 100% confidence in PCGS...but I just want to be able to see it for myself (as crazy as that might sound).

That,s right, When it comes right down to it, It is what makes you
Happy :) To many people worry about over paying for something
And if there going to be able to make a profit or even break even
If they decide to sell it, That thinking will leave you with big dreams
    And a very small collection!
As far as the D.B Cooper cash, Come on its historical event what
Do you want them to do give it away.....lol
