    Hi all,

This is my only trade dollar. Gor it for a good price years ago. I am no expert, and given the plethora of fakes on the market, I am finally posting this to get some valued opinions.

The coin has a nice brownish patina on both sides that is a bit had to show in photos. I don't believe its been cleaned, but ive been wrong before.

Give me some good news people! Haha thanks!

Looks like a nice real circulated trade dollar to me.

I don't see anything that stands out as a fake to me. Granted, I'm just learning.

    Nice coin. I'd guess VF-30 or 35.

    Thanks for all the validation!

Been a burning questions for me for years and was always slightly worried I had a bad one.

Now I need to get it in a holder. I like my 7070.. which I really should post pics of some day...but those sliders are dangerous.

The slides are only dangerous if you aren't careful. When inserting the slide, you need to make sure that all coins in that row are pushed down away from the slide.

Yes I am careful. Need to use gloves too to around finger rpints

IMO that coin is worth getting slabbed.

    Yes, gloves are necessary, too!

Looks like a nice original example. Better date too with a mintage of just under 400k. I'd say about VF30 although the marks on the date and upper rev lettering might lead to a lower net grade.

With that date, in thst nice of a condition, I think I'd have her slabbed.

That is the plan. Been raw since I bought it like 8 years ago. I will update when I get it out.

    Thanks all!

That chocolate toning is something I have never seen. That is quite attractive.

Nice looking coin. Seems legit to me. No chop marks!

    Here's my 1877 grade VF20 by PCGS...

So what's the deal with her right boob being on display...wardrobe failure? ;)

That was one thing that gave me concerns but everyone seems to feel its good. I am going to look for a local dealer and have it sent in.

Would what looks like an old scratch above liberties head and the A in STATES on the back be deemed damage?

well ,those are small areas and sort of concealed, not in a focal area. On a well circulated coin they probably won't rule out a straight grade, but you never know.
