I've been collecting cents for a few months (since I joined here) and have been picking up proof cents for a month or so. I've been getting the proof cents for really cheap on ebay. Does anyone here have an opinion on the outlook of proof cents down the road?

    thanks!

the thing about cents is that they are all the same. The ones that come in the silver proof set are the same as the ones in the clad proof set. That tends to give a higher overall mintage number. That being said there are a lot (a whole lot) of people who like cents. Personally I have a hard time telling a modern pr 69 from a modern pr70 but if you were good at that you could play that angle.

If you're getting proof cents on ebay for cheap prices, they are probably the sets that have issues. You will find many threads on this site about white and black spots on many of the proof sets. I would check them closely. I have several proof cents from the clad, silver, and chronicle sets. I think they may appreciate some in the future.

Collect 'em if you enjoy owning 'em, but not for appreciation in value as all such modern 'stuff" is common as dirt and will never be worth much IMO.
