Someone reneged in the second-to-last Numismatik Naumann auction

So I debated posting this because selfishly I hoped no one would notice but what’s a secret when it’s on the internet now. So to my fellow Flavian collectors on here please ignore this post, nothing to see here!! :angelic::angelic:

Numismatik Naumann just posted auction 102 and nearly their entire Flavian coin selection was just recently auctioned off in Auction 100 for crazy high prices. Here’s an example:

I find myself overjoyed with an opportunity to bid on these once more but definitely curious what happened. Does anyone know and may be willing to spill the tea? :shy:

Probably someone changed their mind or didn't submit payment. Hence it got re-listed.

Crazy! There’s easily 5k euro worth of coins back up in auction here. Feel bad for the auction house

There is another coin I am interested in, which I won't post (not a Flavian though), that seems to have sold in the same earlier auction. Perhaps it was the same buyer?

If the coins sold for high prices, I wonder if the buyer had cold feet - realizing he was paying way too much.

I did notice that in Auction 101 a number of Greek lots were withdrawn. I always wonder what caused that. AFAIK there are three possibilities:
    1. The seller decided not to sell, though I wonder what penalties are involved.
    2. The coins were identified as fakes.
    3. The coins were identified as obtained through unlawful means. Recently CNG withdrew an entire auction due to this.

Yeah after finishing my review of the auction there were quite a few I remembered outside of the Flavians. One in particular in the Constantinian dynasty with a 2k opening bid was quite nice but way out of my price range! Never seen something like this before though in terms of so many coins popping right back up again.

You never know with Nauman, I won a coin in 2017 , I did not get an invoice so I contacted them, they told me they out bid me? Well my max on the coin had not been reached so being out bid seemed weird. They then took the coin and posted it on Vcoins for twice my winning bid, it was not worth that. I did not do business with them for a couple of years because of that incident. I do business with them now but much more limited. I just have to remember that coin to slow my bids down.

To add injury to insult 6 bid still has the coin in archives with it being sold at my winning bid.

It wasn't me! I have all the types that were listed and the one I did not have I paid for and received a couple of weeks ago.

I had a very similar disappointment with them a few years ago. They won the right to be in a very good place on my blacklist!

Something happened the previous auction at N&N. I was watching the medieval section and a week or so before finish I noticed that all the coins i was watching were withdrawn.

Several of the coins I was watching in NN auction 101 were also withdrawn. I did a quick search and count and a total of more than 90 coins were withdrawn from this auction. Some looked questionable to me but others didn't. I'm wondering if all of the coins from one of the consignors were withdrawn for some reason.

The original company was Gitbud and Neuman, a partnership of some sort.

Zero trust in Naumann. From my bad experience and from bad experiences of others I trust

    Would you mind elaborating?

I’ve noticed more of my numismatic purchases (or more often attempted purchases, lol) trending toward Naumann these past months and have yet to have a bad experience. But knowing your reputation in this field I’m definitely interested in hearing more if you’re willing to share!

I have not purchased anything from them. Sounds like I will not be doing so in the future, either.

Of course any auction house can choose to not accept you as a bidder but this sounds like punishing (!?) you for describing your bad experience - and you still did business with them after that. What kind of a censorship is this?! Who revoked your rights, was it NN or biddr?
