Thanks to all for well wishes. Finally, after 12 boxes on halves without a single piece of silver, bix number 13 held 3 40% er's. Relatively speaking, I a great box lol.

I also picked up a "gold" 1979 Susan B Anthony dollar coin. Anyone have any info on this?

5 bags of lincolns got a 1963-D 1DO-001

 

Turned out to be a sweet bag! I found 24 40% silver halves and a 1961 Italian L. 500 coin

Interesting that you find a 500 Lira. I think that was probably worth about a nickel face (when they used to still use Lira). Still interesting to find. Stupid Euros make international coin hunting less interesting.

I went through a couple of boxes of halves today. I'm always surprised at the long streaks people have with no silver. I have never really hit the big jackpots that some of you find, but I have yet to be shut out completely on a box - ever. (I probably just jinxed myself).

The two boxes today...

Box 1: 1 Franklin, 2 x 40%, 2 x S mint proofs
Box 2: 6! Franklins; 4 x 40%

The second box was pretty darn good. The only bad thing about it was I had to go through it during the commercials of the Red Raider game. It's tough watching your team play most of the game with a one-legged quarterback... Had a pretty good chance to get those oSu 'Pokes today, but they escaped with the win.

I searched a box today and continue my dry spell (though not as bad as yours).....zero silver but an 03 and an 05.

Are there fewer 'finds' in urban locations vs. rural??

 

Tried my luck at a few vending machines and kept putting in $1 and pushing the change button and I got 7 UNC Wyoming quarters and 4 2009 Quarters so far

 

Went through 30 rolls of pennies with my second daughter, Audrey.

Found 4 wheats and 2 Canadians - one of the wheats was a 1920. Nothing else special.

 

I live in Manhattan and have found 12 40% and 1 90% in 2 boxes of halves. That is a 0.65% find rate for silver so far over a relatively small sample size. I would guess that is probably similar to rural settings, I think it is more important whether you are getting fresh boxes or rolls that someone else has searched.

 

stopped by a bank today and asked for halves got $25 in halves found a 1973-S proof
also picked up 2 bags of dimes first had 6 silver dimes 2nd a silver canadian dime

 

Found a BU 3rd new lincoln penny today

 

6 banks.
$47.50 worth of Half Dollars both in customer wrapped rolls and loose.
1 1968 40%er.

There just doesn't seem to be as much silver around lately...

 

Where are you finding these customer wrapped rolls?

 

Like I said, by going to the bank. Today I went to 6 banks at random and asked for any half dollars and this is what I got. Many times, the customer wrapped rolls have the best finds, but certainly not today for me....
