1797 1/3rd Guinea on ebay question.

    For a coin priced at over $100, the seller should at least be able to take proper photos. Since the seller has not bothered to do so, I would pass. Poor photos are a great way of obscuring problems in coins, even assuming they are authentic.

    There's about $90 intrinsic gold in a 1/3 guinea, and considering the relative scarcity and age of these coins, its not really that outrageous a price. Although you could get a full guinea in similar condition for just over $300 if you shopped around....

    it is not even fine its is way to worn
    and the pic of the rev is sideways you can bearly
    see that it is a crown

    Meh. I thought so. Just wanted to see if anyone in their right mind would tell me to buy it.

    If it was about 100 I'd bite the bullet and do it just to own one, but the pictures are too atrocious and the actual coin is probably even more hideous.
