Not in a while. I've balanced my collecting interests among rarity, price, and beauty almost perfectly for my budget. When I get bored from a lack of tesserae, there's always a few imitations for me to play with!
So much for retirement... I'm sometimes do get the urge, to buy coins, but I restrain myself from buying something, so I can save up, to buy more expensive, better quality coins, that fit my type set
Some of my favorite coins have been impulse buys! Also some disasters too, gotta take the good with the bad i guess
I do that every so often, and when I do, its on low level world coin of some sort, nothing to high $.
For those saying "So much for the retirement" do note, I don't officially retire from high end coins until after my birthday (Dec. 3rd) and secondly, low end coins don't count!
Not me. My wantlist definitely exceeds my pool of money. It would not be good for me to impulse buy. The closest I come to that is getting something better than I planned on. Like that 2-cent I just bought. I had planned for a MS-63 or -64 but ended up with a -65. The right coin but a higher grade.
Yes. I also think that learning to resist that urge is a very important yet difficult lesson to learn.
Do I get the urge to impulse buy - yes. It is worse at the local coin shop, cause they always seem to have something I want. The good thing is - the last few trips everything they have that I want I can't afford. I am always searching and looking. Now we have to define low-end coins. To me that varies depending on the type of coin.
I'm not sure the difference between impulse buying and just plain buying. Can you impulse buy the coins that you want to complete your collection? When I'm bored, I usually don't buy anything. I'm usually buying when I'm excited about whatever it is that I want to buy.
