as to services, delivery, pricing, production limit, future designs, donations and surcharge, shipping charge, packaging, catalog sale, and on line service, give your good and bad impression or comment to it.
Why not just read all the other posts that have been made over the last several months related to each of the topics mentioned. MOST people get tired of repeating themselves on the same subjects. Good luck on your research!
The good: the quality of the coins when they put their minds to it, such as the Silver American Eagles, both proof and uncirculated.
the good and the bad i hate delay in delivering my stuffs. but i did like buying from the mint. because, it is always new as compared to dealers. i also disliked shipping fee. because, they already included that fee in pricing those coins. remember before they don't have that shet,.
I really like the mint. BUT it is sort of like a love hate relationship... I feel that this is as close to buying something (something I love) as close to direct from the manufactuer... but on the other hand they have terrible customer support, slow shipping and constant delays frequent web down times..
Seeing the Federal Government's response to the hurricane in New Orleans, I would say that the Mint is doing a heck of a job.
I was actually reasonably pleased with the US Mint's customer service, until theystarted messing with the website for upgrades. It was easy to use before, I could easily track the status of shipments, and I didn't get these silly estimated shipping dates. Also, the bunching of the collector's items into the first of the year (even having several become available on the same day!) caused havoc in ordering and fear of cancellation of your order. I was asked to participate in an official survey from the US Mint, and I did not hold back one iota as to my complaints. The problem was that the questions did not allow for a specific complaint as to one section.
And the bad thing about the Mint is: the Mint just bumped my USMC Uncirculated coin out to November. I can't even remember when I ordered it (I think about a month after they went on sale) and they had been showing a mid-September release for weeks.

USMC Comm. today, I've had the proof version for about 10 day now & I ordered within a couple of hours for them going on sale. Both versions of the coin are very well done IMO, worth waiting for.
Hey, thanks for rubbing it in ! I ordered the proofs the day they went on sale, and I've had them for quite a while now.
Don't take it the wrong way Bacchus, I wasn't trying to rub it in. The point I was trying to make was that the mint seems to be slow on the Unc. coin. I ordered both versions at the same time on 7/20.
With all due respect OldDan, some of us have not weighed in on this issue or many other issues for that matter. Or maybe opinions have changed since then. Please dont discourage us newbies from asking a question just because it was asked 3 months ago. It would appear alot of people are not tired of repeating themselves or they have something new to add. If we were limited to only new topics, there would not be very many posts and this would be a very boring forum to be a part of. So to the OP. I ordered something from the Mint May 29th. It was just put "in stock and reserved" yesterday. I have ordered and received other things since then. That is just poor customer service.
True, the shipping fee used to be included in the price of the set/coin. But of course that meant if you bought one set you paid one shipping fee. If you bought two sets you got one package but paid two shipping fees. If your bought five sets you got one package but paid five shipping fees. Today if you order multiple items, even if they get shipped in mulitple packages you still only pay one shipping fee.
I don't wanna start anything but it seems OldDan is a bit high strung. When he wrote this I thought it was just a one time thing but he seems to write habitually like this. Look at what he wrote to a 13 year old kid just the other day in this thread: http://www.cointalk.org/thread9314-another-clueless-person.html Post #9 "Morgan Dollar. you should really try and put more than 4 or 5 words at any one time into your posts. I know that in the 6th grade they didn't require more than that, but if its any comfort to you, I have faith in your ability to compose a good clear line of thought." I think he should tone it down. -Russell
I have found their customer service pretty good (though slow) considering the size of the operation. What I really like is the information they show on the order and its status. They also seem to handle returns pretty well. And their low flat rate shipping fee is great! However, they probably could use a few pointers from a major online seller like Amazon.
the good and the bad the good is that we can buy first hand new coins directly from the mint. the bad is the price might be too high.
good or bad the good is that the mint offer some coins that i once think we should produce. and the mint did. the bad is that i don't have enought money to buy all that i want from the mint.
They make sooo much money yet they charge a crazy amount for mint sets. I've got mint sets from the late 1980's with reorder cards and they retailed for only $7!
