Is the a definative bible for error coin collecting? IF not which books would you, another collector, recomend for someone who wishes to expand there error recognition abilities? Are their specificy books that describe certain denominations better then others? How about photos. Where could someone find a book with good color photos? I am always looking for more information and I need more resources for error collection and identification. With this in mind I am intrested to see what some of the experts use and what they may recomend as references. I hope this actually fit's in the error thread section. If not please move to the appropriate section.
I’m no expert but I’m posting anyway. I have the “The Official Price Guide to Mint Errors, 6th Edition”. No colored photos though and the prices listed in the book are ether to low or to high IMO. But it’s full of neat info. and only $7 at Books-a-million.

Yeah, how can one tell between "error" and "variety"? The Chalton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins has in the last section on die varieties. But many just look like error to me.
By learning what errors actually are - it's not hard. There's only a few basic things that can happen to produce an error, along with variations for those basics.
