1971 was the inaugural year for "new penny" denominations, as Great Britain joined the rest of the modern world and decimalized their monetary system. The bronze 1/2 new penny (KM#914) had a mintage of 1,394,188,000 (yes, that's 1.34-Billion for a nation with a population of about 20% of the U.S.) and typically a "changeover" coin has many, many uncirculated examples set aside.

Face value of the roll is about 27.8¢ US.

Although Krause places a 20¢ value on an uncirculated example (= $10 per roll), to the right collector (good luck finding him/her) the unopened roll might be worth more than that, but not very much.
