http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230390963229 Just a nice set to look at. What would you bid on that?
I agree Danr, I'd love to have it! Way back when I built my set, I wish that I had gone with all top line coins like these! My Walkers were probably the favorite album I ever built, and the most fun.
If I really, really wanted this set and had the extra bucks, I think $4,800 bid would be as high as I would go. Notice the 41s is a PCGS 63 which really hurts the value of this set. The proofs are the most expensive, I think. Did not look at it real close since I am looking through my scratched up glasses. I learned the hard way not to wipe your glasses with a paper towels. New glasses are on the way. Anyhow I had a chance to get a pcgs 65 short set (1941-1947) for a under $4k but could not punch the button on the computer to buy it. I think there is some psychological term for this but I just could not do it. This was the best price I have seen on this PCGS 65 short set I have seen since I have been thinking about one over the last year or so. I think this set up for auction is worth more so that is how I came up with my figure. I really do not know what this set is worth and just my opinion but it is nice and would be a pleasure to own. Seems the price of a lot of stuff has come down lately.
Very cool to have all rattlers like that. I would rather have a set where all the grades are matched though. In fact, I do have one of those All PCGS MS64, many in the older green holders and I have some pretty sweet custom holders for the set. Definitely one of my favorite auction purchase of the last couple of years!!
Wow! That is an insane set, It all looks good together as rattlers. Nice auction, although I'm curious why he chose ebay...
