As I was looking over www.dc-coins.org last night, I came across a new spinoff idea that I found quite amusing. May be amusing but it's costing some ppl money. Just to let you know you can still by the gold coins with no strings attached so that's good, but what's with this new virtual country?

I'm speaking of the new Wirtland gold coin and the virtual country that was invented as a new cyber country. The coins look great and that's not really the issue, everyone knows Daniel Carr is a master artist, minter etc.

Incidentally, I haven't read the whole Wirtland "mission statement" or objective, so if I'm mistaken of anything please give me a heads up. Any thoughts?

I believe a similar idea has been done before. Don't know that they ever went as far as this though. Daniel would be the one to speak to it, he's a member here.

There are a few other people who have started their own "country" within other recognized countries. I see that idea as rediculous myself since no one recognizes these "countries" as a country except the people who founded them.

Wirtland is really kind of neat. Gold coins, identity cards, etc.... i'll be applying for citizenship :thumb:. And "Gold Crane" seems like a good offer - indeed 15$ cheaper than identical Maple Leaf. And I like its sleek design.

Actually in the case of North Korea, led by the lilliputian buffoon, and founded by daddems and recognised by enough countries that they can play with the big boys on the world stage. Gees, they even manage to crank out coins created solely for capitalist fools all the while no coins circulate in N. Korea.

I am sure there is a place for such comments, but I don't think this is the right one.

Interesting that an "Internet based micronation" needs a monarch, and coins and stamps. Oh well, if they can make money (real money, not what they call International Currency Unit) that way, why not ...

So which CoinTalk member did I just add as a friend on Wirtland? I saw some nice coin and currency photos uploaded on there.
