I recently got a whole bunch of provincials which I am slowly working through to the best of my ability. I just can't read anything on this coin. It's a young female empress on front, but I'm just not well versed enough in female portraits to be able to tell who it is. Reverse is certainly Athena, as I can see the corinthian helmet pushed up on her head; she also holds the Athena shield. 3.9g 18mm
It looks like the obverse inscription ends in ΙΛΛΑ. Moreover, she has her hair in a plait at the back of her head near the neck. Plautilla, maybe? The only other -illa empress I can think of is Etruscilla.
..i love those worn magic coins that 'could be' ...purdy much what you think it is at the time..i've had many like that..until such time it is positively ID'd.. (and i'd put money on RC"s call anytime )
