Rare Mint Error?

    Hi CoinTalk,

I won an eBay auction last week, and my order has finally been delivered. I am pretty sure I have found a rare mint error. The assigned grade is AU58, slabbed by a lesser-known TPG, but to my eyes, it looks to be mint. I am considering submitting to a major TPG for grading and error attribution. Overall, I think it’s a pretty sweet piece. There is some nice reddish toning to contrast with the “blast white” appearance.

I have uploaded pictures of the obverse and the reverse. For any experts out there, does this look like a rare mint error? It better be, because this puppy sure wasn’t cheap. Thanks!

I've rarely seen a mint error that wild, definitely worth submitting it...

Post mint error...it didn't get into the cellophane that way. Could be counterfeit. Taste it.

That TPG usually has low, low prices but still accurate.

looks like intentional damage to me, but the mint luster still appears good. AU58 sounds about right. It's a shame it was mishandled, it looks like it might have cleared mint state 67.

It got damaged in the "slab" & is no longer gradable...you'll just have to eat your loss! :D

Yeah, when I was in my early 20's developed a very nonchalant procedure precisely just for that.
