    um...
don't you think that Santa will be angry having to walk around with a bug in his ear?

    And itchy!

HMMM Now that is a good idea but where would you store those slabs? How come you didn't say MS-70? And you really shouldn't use the term MS since those books are not minted, they are published so we now need a PS rating for Pubished State. ;):D
As noted see pages 408 to 411 in the 2010 Edition of the Red Book.

As already noted it is true that it is a really good book for information and things like the quantity minted. However, the amount Minted is sometimes irrelevant to a coins prices. Examples are the 1931S Lincoln Cent, the 31D Mercury Dime, etc. where if you go by quantities minted, you would suspect those would be of a much higher price range. Just ain't necessarily so.
The worst part of carrying a Red Book is that almost every dealer I know would say if you do carry one your an amateur and really have no concept of coin pricing. Then too they would possibly raise their prices if not marked knowing if you look in that book for a price, it is overstated drastically so why not charge you that. If you look up a price in that book and then try to haggle a price down with a dealer at a coin show, the dealer would just say OK I'll let you have it for xxx. This would probably be the highest price he would ask anyone else for knowing they will haggle him down.
In addition to that, I'm old and just don't want to carry anything heavy for no reason. I suppose there are those that may have them with, but like I said so far in all the years at coin shows, only once did I see someone with one and he was really young.

    You got that right.

The catalogers here at Heritage Auctions generally have one handy and usually open on their desks at all times. There seriously is no better basic numismatic book, and it's available pretty much everywhere.

I've seen the Professional Edition, briefly, and I'd love to own one. Maybe at this weekend's coin show? Hmmm... ;)

First coin show I ever attended.....what do you think they were handin' out to the first 50 or so folks who entered? Red Book. I handed it off to my daughter so as not to look like (as Frank stated) a tourist. Still, quite a handy guide to have along with you. Never knew about the professional edition. Gonna have to check that out......

was that the LI Coin club show?

If so, they gave out the Stacks limited edition book.

look in the front, there should be a hard page with an ad from Stacks.

Just got my copy, spiral bound, 8 1/2 x 11 in size. So far I've only looked at the two-cent pieces section. I like the recommended reading list for each denomination. Great pictures of varieties as well.

I got a quick look this last Sunday at the 110 show.

Very neat and a ton of info.

Can't seem to locate it...somewhere in that bottomless pit of a bedroom that my daughter camps out in. She claims she's looking for it.....

There is a way to benefit cointalk if you buy it through Amazon.

All I am finding is the "Big Red Book of Spanish Vocabulary"
