nice post, I got some great laughs off that!
If he tried that with me he would have 50$ in his hand and I would gone before he could say wait no this is for a show.

The best are the people at the end who he starts laughing with and saying "oh yeah you dont wana it cause its silly canada money and not worth anything here right!?" and the people are laughing and agreeing! AMAZING how ignorant people are.

Reminds me of when Jay Leno went out on the street corner and asked his "Who's buried in Grant's Tomb" question and people didn't know the answer. That said, I doubt all of those people are brain dead, stupid or ignorant. You have to realize the environment we live in these days where every time you turn around someone is trying to scam you one way or another. I'm sure the older folks in the video looked at it this way where the younger ones were just plain clueless.

I'm not sure I'd buy it from this guy either. He's just too weird and with the camera and him on the microphone just seems like he wouldn't really sell it anyways. Some of the people were funny though.

The thing about the video he showed, is he showed what he wanted to show or what he wanted us to believe. Meaning, how do we know that everybody refused? Nobody knows but him and the camera man. I think it's fake and I just don't believe that every person he went to refused to buy it.

I mean I can't say for absolute certain that I would buy it or not and I don't think anyone else can say that either. It just depends, you would have to actually experience it. Kinda depends on which way the wind is blowing and which way your finances are blowing I guess.

I think trying to sell an oz of gold for $50 screams that the coin is fake. Add to it that most normal people (non-coin collectors) don't know how to test a gold on the spot. Also, the microphone and camera make them think they are getting punked. Put all this together and it is perfectly reasonable that most people wouldn't even consider buying the coin.

What really surprised me is how many people carry absolutely no cash. Does nobody carry mugger money anymore?

For $20, I would have bought the coin and offered to go get his Starbucks coffee for him.

I do believe that this video is accurate and that the majority of my fellow Americans are not too bright at this time, further more I believe they should retire the saying common sense and replace it with rare sense. Just my opinion.

C'mon guys, do you commonly stop and buy stuff from people who accost you on the street? I'd love to think I'd have gotten away with a deal if this guy approached me, but there are WAY too many signals that scream "scam". I commend most of these people for making what would more commonly be a good decision. In this case it wasn't, but better safe than sorry.

Yeah, how do you test gold on the spot? I guess you could do what I did and scratch the coin :goofer: (Not with a knife but your fingernail, pure gold is soft enough I think to scratch with your nail)

This reminds me of a magic video I have on the watch steal featuring the late chappy brazil, an inventor of magic appartus and professional magician/pickpocket. He made a video on the watch steal as a magican act but died in a motorcycle on his way to view the finished video. He was in las vegas and was offering people walking by on the strip $1 to them for him to show them a trick...he had no takers.
