What brought this on?? Just so you know - none of us see the advertisers checks, nor do we care about the checks. All of the Moderators here on CT, and that includes Doug the Administrator do this work for the love of the hobby. Peter is the owner of the forum and he pays all bills that come due to keep this forum running, and let me tell you that the advertisers don't cover that bill...it comes out of Peter's back pocket. All of the modertators read as much as they can, and some read EVERY single post. Sure there are times that we miss something, but that is why we have a report button for each of you members to push and tell us of a problem. Speedy
There are plenty of good people on E-Bay. Of course, there are some clunkers as well. I know some very reputable folks, well placed in the early American coppers world, who list regularly on E-bay.
Ive had some GREAT luck with Ebay! some bad luck too... but mostly good. Got a BEAUTIFUL 2001 buffalo for 340$ PF 70 NGC.
can anyone here show we where I can buy under-priced coins??? I don't need to know how to tell whether or not they are, just show me where they are. C'mon, share with me!!!! I'd really like to find them so that I can sell them. I love coins! Pardon my tone, but there are NO free lunches, and no magic pills! If you want to find bargains in the coin business, then learn how to examine coins better than the next guy and capitalize on the mistakes of the lesser educated. Learn about the coins, then you can find your own bargains!
Ebay is a free lunch.... thousands of people mostly uneducated selling things they generally dont know about. Just gotta wait for the right one when someone else smart does not see it either. Many great deals on ebay come from desperate people whos items didnt meat the reserve but need to sell the items anyways.
#1 post so far. :thumb: The only clarification might be the difference between a "bargain" and a "good deal"... but that's for a thread of it's own !
Let's all vote his post as #1. Me first. Wow. Mr. Noodle rocks! PS: Can we get back to the subject? Let's see some links! I am looking for some myself. Will post when I find.
the operative part of your argument is: The problem is that you have to be educated in order to tell the wheat from the chaff. Your argument assumes that while looking on eBay for bargains that you (the searcher) be smart enough to tell the difference, and THAT was the essence of what I said. You need the knowledge first. Just as 3 pigs built their houses, it was only the well-built house that survived. This was because it had a solid foundation. In the hobby of coins, that foundation is knowledge. Something that the OP desperately needs but refuses to acknowledge in the advice of some pretty good minds around him.
If "some of the moderators read every single post" as you suggest, then it must be OK for a moderator to personally attack and defame a member then. I've been called a thief (by a moderator) and a liar, and "his holiness"....and I've been back to this forum all of 3 weeks. Taking that all into account, I think you should be able to see where I would get the idea that I was in a snake pit. Nightowl
To be fair, it was NOT a mod that used the term "your holiness" it was Pocket Change who is at last check NOT a moderator on this forum. Honestly, I don't think it was aimed at ANYONE specific. I understand if you feel attacked, and if so, then complain to the mods, but please, please, please get your facts straight when trying to address it.
I wasn't called a liar by a mod in this thread....but in another. I have my facts absolutely straight, and resent (yet again) being accused of not knowing what I'm talking about. Nightowl
fact: you said you were called "his holiness" when the term used was "your holiness" that's the fact that you site incorrectly in this thread. I say that you probably do feel attacked, but many times it's misunderstanding that creates hard feelings and sensitivity between people. If you feel attacked, then that's a subject for you and the mods, not the open forum. Don't resent me, I am just calling it as I see it. I don't have an axe to grind at your wheel.
That's a semantic difference that makes no difference whatever. It was an insult either way. Since it's OK to insult other members, even if you're assigned the task of "moderating", we might just as well have this conversation in public. I will not whine to the moderators. Nightowl
Here are Shawn Yancey's current e-bay offerings. I can personally vouch for Shawn as man of rock-solid character and large cent copperhead par excellence. Dude knows his bizness. He doesn't give 'em away... but a great deal on a coin is based first on quality. Price is secondary. http://shop.ebay.com/earlycoppercoins/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=100&_sop=1
Look at me!!!!!!! Enough already. I may not be a mod but I surely am the thread starter and I want your back and forth to end now!!!!! I know you feel jeered at and hurt, and Pocket Change should NOT have went there. However please, do not bring down my thread or change the focus of it with your issues that you should be PMing mods about.. Enough already. Thanks
If you wish, you can report the post, or take it to the site owner Peter T Davis for his review. I doubt it was aimed at you. Speedy
