I apparently need two teeth replaced with implants and crowns. each one a two-step procedure. I've put it off for more than a year, but now that I'm vaccinated, my first appointment for the first one is next month. Each tooth will cost > $1,000, about half of which is covered by insurance. Which costs about $800 per year for the premium! So the insurance is only worth it if I do more than one expensive procedure per year.

Dental insurance has been a benefit that is rarely covered by employer retiree benefits. That's a shame. Oral health is directly linked to physical health. Indeed, deteriorating oral health, such as infections, can have a significantly adverse impact on general health and can lead to complications.

Dental coverage is provided in the UK through the NHS, regardless of age or employment status . It should be a benefit for all in the US as well.

Yes, apparently, if the USPS does not have an arrangement to coordinate tracking with a country, such as Spain, then it is not going to work once a shipment leaves the country of origin. The best you can do in that situation is track the shipment through Correos. Once the shipment leaves Spain, that's as far as tracking is concerned.

Now the Swiss post page shows that the item arrived in the U.S. on 3/26...

I received a parcel today from Taiwan, mailed 3/17. A recent shipment from India took 19 days. Both were eBay purchases by registered mail. I am located in the southeastern USA. Quite pleased.

To all the Americans in Coin-Talk... Public Health Service is not some socialist conspiracy you know... How on earth did this insurance thing became acceptable and the norm to you all? I feel so lucky to live in Europe... (Apparently your public transport is not that great either...)

In Europe, are teeth considered part of one's body for purposes of medical treatment, and therefore covered by public health services? Here, even Medicare doesn't normally cover dental care.

Speaking apolitically, lack of public healthcare is a big drawback to living in the U.S. along with things like crumbling infrastructure.

It never crossed my mind that it could be something that is not regarded as part of my body... What I know for sure is that treatment is free here in the UK through the NHS (National Health Service) and that is also the case for many other European countries. Having said that, my partner had an issue with a tooth that kept getting infected, and the public Doctor wanted to pull it out, but when we went private, that doctor managed to save it. However it cost less than £1000 and it was a Harley Street practice!

Waiting on a coin that has seemingly been stuck in Boston since last week. OMG it is a purchase I have wanted to make for a long time and my impatient wait is just about driving me batshit crazy. I just want that piece of American history in my grubby paws.

One thing you have to take account for is that Europeans have high taxes but are more apt to seeing a direct benefit for their taxes. Here in America I have lower taxes than most Europeans but I do not see much in the way of a direct benefit from even pennies on the dollar. I pay local taxes and benefit from street lights and garbage collection and a library. But my federal taxes are being misspent in some God forsaken lands that most Americans cannot even find on a map.

I received a shipment from Leu on Monday. I was not able to track it at any point. I did not need to sign, it was just left in my mailbox.

Leu included some very complete and formal letters indicating that there is nothing untoward with the provenance of any of the coins, even though some of them were minted in Turkey and Syria. The letters cited specific parts of relevant law.
