I don't know why, but an 1890's Rhode Island shopkeeper seems like someone that would be very uptight. I can picture one now, with a handlebar moustache and striped shirt.
connor, while I have no problem with that very nice playboy vignette. But as DJ stated (If I was caught looking at those images while at work - I would have been unemployed). I would have the same problem. Of the top of my head I can think of 3 individuals out of 450 employees at the plant I work at that would regard the playboy vignette as porn or smut and believe me all 3 individuals would raise a big fuss over this vignette. And that's all it takes to turn a piece of art to a sensored piece of art. Lou
So many excuses... to Daggarjon and LSM: you cannot seriously say that your employers is Ok with you browsing Coin Talk at work, can you? It just not that obvious that you are waisting company's money but from they stand point it should be no difference if you are watching porno or chatting at Coin Talk. That should invalidate your reason. Another reasons about children-friendly site is also not that good because of the same $5 edicational note and many other beauties that should be allowed here due to the nature of the site but are not good for children (I'm also a parent, you know). As I see it, whatever is paper money is good here, whatever is not parer money (including pictures of your new cars, homes and kids) is not good here - why make it more complecated? By the way, there is the "Full Bodied Beautiful Women Coins!!!" http://www.cointalk.com/t53573/ in neighboring forum and nobody object.
vrt - you must not work in an office environment! You do have a point however! Where i work prefers i not browse the internet while there. HOWEVER, my browsing a forum and viewing potentially pornographic material - i just cant see how you would place them in the same class of 'wrongs'. Please take a class on sexual harrasment! Its not how 'I' view the material - it is how the person standing behind me who is looking over my shoulder views it. harasment is ALL in the yes of the harrassed, not in the harrasser. Where i work has a strict ZERO tolerance policy. If you knew where it was, you might understand. Either way - it wasnt mine now LSM's decision to remove the images - please take a look at the person who edited the tread and direct you frustration and anger at them. All we did was voice our agreement. as for the thread you posted with the coins - how can you compare the coins showing not much of anything, to a full color photo?
The full color picture that you must have not seen was not the same as the vignette ,the full color picture had a Stock Certificate covering the models breasts completely,The vignette didn't it had her hair covering the "offending Areas ",check out your facts before making a statement like the above.
what facts did i get wrong? Was the photo full color? Or not? To me, i saw full color and full detail. I did see the stock image covering certain parts, but it was still full color... and that would make no difference to someone who might get offended even with that. I am not saying i was offended connor so calm down. i am saying in an office, you have to make sure you are looking out for the person who might be lurking behind you! Lets not let tempers flare over a simple conversation.
I feel the vignette was appropriate, not so much different then any other one.. But the picture you included of the real model, with her nipples covered was not.
Ok...Ok. next time I'll include the nipples in the full color picture just to make you all happy lol End of subject,I apologies to anyone who was offended by the full color model that was covered up fully by that stock certificate . Wish I never posted it ,but a lesson learned,it's not worth it to post real pictures of models of coins/currency or stock certificates on this site. Hope this ends it & we can get back to Paper money .
Connor, , i tried sending you a PM, but i think you turned them off. There was no harm done that warrants your appologies or making you regret anything! You posted a simple picture, the mods removed it and a conversation followed. No attacks were made, nothing personal was said - so dont fret! I have posted what i thought were innocent things in the past and got snagged by the mods as well. it hapens to all of us, and i really dont think anyone here will hold anything in this thread against you!
Affirming what Daggarjon has said, I believe it is a good thing that the mods "shield" us from ourselves from time to time. I got the "offending" image in a book yesterday, my package from Gene arrived. All I can say is wowza, and those books ended up in the glass bookcase. Crikes I didna even watch the telee last nights, had my nosey in a book.
