Negative feedback I Left For Seller

Sounds like he had it set to automatically accept offers above a certain amount.
I am in agreement with other members that something happened to the seller. This was my first thought when I saw no recent activity on their ebay page. Something similar to this happened to me, although I did not have any coins on order at the time. In my case, the ebay member frequently listed auctions for mostly pre unification German states coins. I would check his page regularly to see when new auctions were going. Nothing new for a period of time, and I happened to notice at least 1 angry, negative feedback for him. His feedback prior was always excellent- and my own experience was also very positive. On more than one occasion, he also included some nice coins free, with the coins i had won. Shipped quickly, carefully packaged, with a short thank you note. A few days after seeing the negative feedback, I checked his page again. Another buyer (positive feedback left) stated they had not received their coins, but also they were worried something had happened to the seller, as they knew the seller had been quite ill the year before. I still occasionally checked back to see if there was any activity for the seller, but to no avail. Sadly, he either passed away, or had a health situation that involved having to be placed in a care home.

  3. this is happening a lot on ebay and after you make so many clams to them is YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK . Even if it is a possible fraud. I only pay with PAYPAL .

I think that's going away. Ebay handles the payments now. Ebay bought paypal. Ebay holds the payments until item received. New policy. Money doesn't even go through paypal to sellers anymore. Goes direct to the bank account you select.

I agree and have often wondered what may happen if a seller becomes incapacitated or passes away with auctions up. It probably happens all the time. It's not like everyone has a caretaker on standby to manage ebay listings once you're gone. Some people have hundreds of listings.

eBay spun off PayPal as a separate company in 2015. But you're right about the new payment policies they have in place.

"Private Listings".....why does eBay allow them since all bidders ID's are hidden. It can help crooked sellers hide shill bidding. I want to see if other bidders have most or all of their bids with that seller.

I had a good friend that had a lot of nice coins on ebay. One day the law took him to jail and he is still there. He never had a chance to finish all the stuff he had going on with ebay. It was a big mess and a lot of people lost money and coins.
Maybe something like this happened to the seller that is the topic of this thread.

I agree something has happened to the seller. All of his items are "Buy It Now" or "Best Price" and no auctions.
And ... Uh oh! ... The 1972 LMC DDO has "12 watching". I hope no one jumps on it.

This has been a wake-up call for me.
I will have to give my logon information to someone so they can go in and take down all my listings if something happens to me. Don't like the thought of somebody's money Sitting In Limbo Just because I have gone to the great beyond.

Is there anyway to tell if a hidden named bidder is the same when it shows it more than once besides the seller.

Hopefully that feedback makes people think twice, about buying anything . I always send a message to the seller within the listing time frame they leave for shipping . After 3 messages and two weeks later, no response from seller . I new something was up .

Your purchase is his only recent sale, and his last feedback is from more than six months ago.

There's a good chance the coins currently in his store are still up only because of eBay's brain-dead "we'll keep relisting things forever until you explicitly take them down" policy -- if someone dies or is incapacitated, their listings will keep renewing until their funding source runs dry, or until their account accumulates enough strikes to be blocked.

They can be set up to automatically accept X amount, even if he is dead...

An important subject - so many of our assets today are digital, i.e. hidden behind usernames and passwords, that recovery becomes difficult for our fiduciaries (executors or administrators of the digital estate). Keeping a record of all important online accounts (email, banking, investments, credit cards, insurance, social media, etc.) and their access information plus making that info available to a trusted person will simplify the settling of your estate once you're in 'the great beyond'.
Years ago, it was just a matter of searching for physical bank books, policies and documents at home, office or safe deposit box, but today much of that is secured on computer hard drives.

As others have stated something could have happened to the dealer. With Covid running around you never know. I like to think the best of people until I learn different. I have no interest in eBay but I've know a few dealers over the years that when the decide to call it quits post a note on their site and once most of there coins are sold they shut down but, unfortunately their Webb site can still be on the internet for a long time. I have my own company and moved 4 times in 32 years and now have three locations. Guess what my first location is still listed on the internet even though I moved from there over 20 years ago.

The link works for me and shows his info but says no longer a registered user and I see all the listings are gone as well. It would see something indeed did happen. Exactly what, we'll probably never know.

Bummer for all involved, hopefully there weren't other outstanding orders.
