Were I you, I would send it in also. I see enough similarities between the 2 coins to make me very suspicious of the first. Also, from what I can see, either the VF coin is over graded or the F12 is undergraded in my opinion. From what I can see, those 2 coins should probably receive the same grade.
Nahhhhhhh - you guys must be imagining things. Why it's common knowledge that the TPG's haven't loosened their grading standards.
IMO, ANA Standards seem to indicate the F12 coin is very close and the VF25 is overgraded. Yes, they are very similar coins.
That was my understanding. I don't have a book handy, but it would be interesting to determine how many different die marriages had silver plugs. If they did this for a long period, I would guess it would show up on many different die marriages, but I'm not sure whether or not that's the case.
I think it looks like it MIGHT have a plug. Why did it take so long, because no one bothered to go back and look at the records. I don't know how many varieties they are known on but I don't believe they did them for very long. Too labor intensive. I think only one plugged half dollar is known.
In fact, I prefer the eye appeal of the F12 myself Do 'ya think it might get a "gold bean" from CACa?
I recall reading somewhere long ago that the eagle was intended to resemble a phoenix rising. I have no idea if that was really the intent.
