Well I just got my first oportunity to buy an old Coin Collection, When it arrived with my father in law (it was a friend from his work) It was in an old dresser drawer. I slowly pulled it out and what I found was. Rolls and rolls (about 13) of Circ wheeties, some 1959-63 circ pennies and 1 roll of well circulated indian pennys.(I removed them from the album as they were just stuck in there any where) about 1 dozen Buffalo Nickles(the real ones) and a few Silver war nickles. I was really hoping to find some real cool type coins or something. I paid the guy approx $40.00 for the whole lot. Thru the 59-63's in the change jar along with the kennedy halfs (no silver) and kept the wheeties and the indians. All and all a fair deal for both of us I think? Now what to do with all those worn wheeties?

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. What are the dates on the Indian Head Nickels, what grade would you put them at??

I would probably sort them by date/mintmark first, and check the Redbook to see if there are any that are worth more than 1.5-2¢ each - like an '09 VDB S

Or put them on EBay as "unsearched" (after all, you haven't searched them yet :p )

Or check with a dealer - you might be able to get 75¢ or so per roll and recoup a third of your investment. ;)

I'm getting ready to sell 1,200 Wheats to a guy in town that I know...these were left from where I would buy rolls and lots to look for dates I needed to complete my set...now that it's done I don't need them any more...
I pay about $0.05 per wheat cent...so you should get about $0.03-$0.04 per cent at a coin store or another collector.

Do you think, I under paid him? I figured 2 cents for each of the wheeties and about 40 cents for the Indian pennys. The buffalos about 25 cents. I am curious now.

Nope----as long as HE is happy...this is nothing to worry about...

Right now I'm having a guy trying to pay me more than the coins I'm selling is worth...that is a change...most of the time they try to get it lower...but I'm going to talk him down and make him a offer of what I want that is lower than his offer by about $100-$200 bucks....he should be happy!!!
