Numista-1108. ANACS VG10, cert. #4745247. A lower grade but otherwise pleasing example of the first year of the 1860-1864 copper-nickel type with shield above the reverse wreath. The 1860 came in both pointed and rounded bust varieties, which describes the tip of the bust near the "1" in the date. This, the Rounded Bust variety (Type 2), is more common. I have always liked copper-nickel Indian cents, which are lighter colored and thicker than their later (1864-1909) bronze counterparts. I thought this was a nice example to acquire for under $20, slab and all.
That is a really nice piece. It would be awesome to find one of similar condition in an ANACS slab labelled "Type 1 Pointed Bust" and have the mini-set.
My 1860 is the same, rounded bust. I was very fortunate as a young collector. I have all but the 1909 S. Many were found in circulation back in the 40's and 50's. There was an old man, the brother of the owner of a mom & pop type store. There were a lot of those that I visited almost everyday to look through their coins. The old man and his wife lived very close to us. He had saved every IHC that he had seen in his life. He had coffee cans full of them. I would help them with chores if they were working around their house when I was passing. I never asked for payment. Every now and then he would open a can and offer me a few pennies for my help.
