I found a shoe box full of pennies, was so excited. unfortunately they had been in a shed for many years and had gotten damp not all but a good amount.I know the rule about never cleaning coins, is there anyway to salvage them? I appreciate any advice.thank you
[QUOTE="Angelamc, post: so the small container are the ones that are ok , seems a shame to not be able to save them. I'm very new at this, and omg I'm having so much fun
Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately we can only help you if you show us what you have. Let us share in all the fun you're having...
Darn I sent a pic but it must of went to just the person I replied too. Not so tech savvy. I will try again
Welcome to CT. I hope you can find the way to post some photos. There are some techniques for "saving" copper cents, but not knowing the exact problem would lead to lots of useless information for you to process. Good luck.
Thank you I ll send pics soon trying to move , coins are such a great escape. Hopefully I will have time tonight to do some pics lots of 60s and 70s a few what's too .
Yeah. The situation is we'd need to see what you are dealing with and if it's salvageable or just not worth the effort and destroyed. I'd say for sure you still have a box of pennies, so SCORE! free money, but really depend's on condition and contaminant and the effect it's had to determine if you have anything above face value, and that's not even considering dates and rarity and all that jazz of specific coins. Pictures would be necessary to see what you have and if it can be dealt with.
Welcome to CT. A lot of knowledgeable folk here, willing to help. Just don't get discouraged if you don't find the zillion dollar treasure. Half the fun is in the search.
