Proves that even "blue collar" guys can get in on nice coins. I followed "day 0ne" was utterly amazed at hammer prices. I ended up getting the Chile AV 8 Escudos 1842-So for 7K/ probably the cheapest coin. Most coins went past 100K+. Anyone one else have any luck? lf - 2021-03-26T083900.838.jpg lf - 2021-03-26T083913.373.jpg

Beautiful coin! I did not bid in the sale as I usually prefer the gold minors. Prices seemed very strong, but for some of these coins this may be the only chance to acquire them.

I love the gold "Majors" like the AV 25 Dukaten from Salzburg/ AV 30 Venetian Zecchini/ outa my league. I am sure the "Tyrant" added many of these to his beautifull coll.

I watched the Scottish £20 from 1576 but I wouldn't tie that much dosh into a coin that was damaged.

I agree with you on that 100 percent. Even if I had a spare 10 Billion, I would not want that coin, or the AV 20 Dukaten with "XX" etched on them. With all the coins going thru sixbid/ you could spend easily 5 B/ just on the perfect MS gold/ silver coinage. To me it was sheer stupidity not to have had value markers on multiple Dukaten, esp. Salzburg where they struck odd ones like 18/24/9/7 dukaten. How was a person back in 1618 to tell a AV 15D from a 16D coin?
Bohemia did mark their biggies with "100" "50" "40" Dukaten values. Maybe they figured these coins where to nice to spend and would be put away as collectibles.
