1943 10c Mercury S or die chip?

Good day,
I can't tell if this is just a weak strike or die chip that made area appear to have a mm. I'm thinking die chip what does everyone think?

That area under the stem where the mm would be isn't a chip, it's a flattened damaged spot.

That's the field. There's nothing there to chip off.

 

So much going on in that area it confused the heck out of me. This is where I thought was a mm but probably wrong...lol

 

Appears to be a die chip that got smooshed. Part of it remains.

 

Under the stem there? That area is flat.

That's a stain that looks like an S mintmark but it's not. There is nothing in that area that could cause a die chip.
