I have no idea what my son picked out and put in the holders. He said there were some from the 1700s. Time will tell.
Thats a great idea. I like wall mounted plaques. I am in the process of converting a room over to a 1800 century old world library/museum/study/coin room You know you are getting old when your Mancave gets turned into a Library
I have only had time to look at a few handfuls so far. It all is unpicked by me. My 14 year old son is the only one that has even gotten I to them yet. I am super curious to see what he picked and put in the cases.
He filled 6 cases with coins and cleaned me out of whatever empty cases I had left lol. He really did have fun though and thats what counts
From top to bottom, L to R on the second photo: R1 Japan 10 yen R2 China Guangxu cash minted Japan kan'ei tsuho China Guangxu, Guangdong mint China qianlong cash R3 China qianlong again China Jiaqing Qianlong upside-down Jiaqing again R4 Japan Kan'ei tsuhou China Qianlong China Jiaqing China Kangxi R5 China Daoguang R6 Japan 5 yen x2, Japan 10 yen The Japan 5 and 10 yen are generally spenders All the China seem to be Qing Dynasty so far (the most prevalent). A nice fun assortment, but nothing jumps out at me as scarce. Enjoy!
I do see some silver in there. Perhaps separate them all by country and then find out their composition and value. Should be hours of fun! What a hoard!
In some of your photos, I see what looks like a very high grade Draped Bust large cent. Got excited! But it isn't of course because there are the words "3RD PRESIDENCY" ( I think) where the year should be. What kind of token is that?
I see sooooooooo many coins that I want to reach out and examine closer! You should set up a website and post all these coins, then invite us to contribute information on each one! I see a one dirham coin from Dubai. 20- and 5-cent first generation coins from Singapore.
