Yesterday I received a package from the Great White North. It was from one of CTs friendliest and most giving posters. @Orfew for no other reason than to be kind and to light up my day sent me a recent acquisition of his...an OTHO!

When I opened the package a total of 3 presents popped out!

Two mint Canadian 50 cent pieces, double dated 1952-2002 in celebration of the queen's jubilee! With the BEAUTIFUL Canadian coat of arms on the reverse!

And then the present that left me humbled. A coin with a wonderful provenance and story behind it (I need to work on my lighting as there is more detail in hand):

(You can totally read the "OTH" before the crack)

Otho's story always reminds me of the bad guy in the movies who makes good by sacrificing himself at the end so the heroes can stay alive (not sure if the hero is Rome or the emperorship).
Otho was wealthy and from a distinguished Etruscan family. one of Nero's drinking buddies and lackeys.
Nero would fall for Otho's wife Poppaea Sabina and banish Otho to Lusitania,

making his old keg stand feet holder divorce his wife so that Nero could marry her, later kick her in the stomach while pregnant and killing her and his unborn son. If the reports were true.
Otho then sides with Galba, only to revolt and kill him!
Otho's Emperorship was short lived however. His lack of experience and anxiety led to a botched confrontation with Vitellius.
In the end, as the story goes anyway, rather than put Rome through another civil war Otho would give a speech, the night before taking his own life, declaring, "It is far more just to perish one for all, than many for one." Early the following morning of the 91st day of his reign Otho stabbed himself to death.
It's rare for a turd to flush itself down the toilet. But so ended the life of one of Suetonius 12.

Anyway, I just wanted to take one more second to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much @Orfew.

I would love to see other coins CT members have received from each other, Otho, any other Ex Orfew coins and anything that flips your wig.
