My target was that Constantius Gallus AV solidus Thessalonika Mint I had a AV 5 Dukaten 1717 Dusseldorf Mint/ Julich-Berg Karl Philipp von Pfalz-Neuberg on my want list. It was still reasonable at $7750 before event started. By end of Day one/ auction (Heritage/ Paramount) sale....it sold 60K
I actually got one in the world coins section at the end - below estimate which was also below the starting prices for lower grade examples in some other auctions so I am more than happy with that, I was hoping no one would notice as it wasn't an ancient - just waiting for the invoice
100% Loss - 0% Wins ... (back to the minor leagues for me) - Prices were WAY over the top. .... I mean WAY WAY WAY over the top. Attempted 12 coins and got blown out of the water in all 12 - With 10 of them hammering at 4+ times estimate.
