It is doubtful that a 2009 Series will be printed at this point. The Fed and the BEP do not appear to be in a big hurry to get out notes with the new signatures.
Right, because with as much money as they have been creating out of thin air to prop up banks, insurance companies and auto manufacturers they cannot let on to how much is being created - printing the 2004 - 2006 dated notes gives the impression that this money has been out there all along.
i would expect the new series to be 2010, not 2009 as SM and lettow mentioned. As with the valid reasons SM mentioned, it does take time to prepare new plates for the new series. So when the BEp does get around to thinking about the new series, they will have to prepare for it.... Also, i have only found 3 or 4 stars for the 2006 series in circulation. Pretty much all of them are SF district. As much as i would love for the 2006 series to continue to give me a chance in 'heck' of finding the notes i need... i always love a new series to collect
I have noticed in the past that the BEP prepares the plates, signatures etc and releases notes a bit back dated, so for instance the Series 2009's may not come out until 2010 etc.
that could be as well. I have heard the time frame to be almost a year or more to prepare the new plates. So if they start them in 2009, and get them put to use in 2010, they wouldnt have to start over with a new series. It all comes down to when the series is authorized... has that happened yet? If not, then i doubt we will see 2009.
Actually they are busier preparing the plates for the hyperinflation notes we have coming down the pike - canna I get change for a $100000 anyone?
Actually, no.... The BEP doesn't start working on the new series until both of the signatures are available, and Rosa Rios wasn't sworn in as Treasurer until the first week of August. Then it typically takes about three months to create new master plates, duplicate new working plates from them, and get the first print run of the new series through all the steps of the production process. So we wouldn't expect to see any Series 2009 currency turning up until the November BEP report--*maybe* a run or two in the October report if they're particularly fast this time around. And even if there were a longer delay, the date of a new series (when it's created by a signature change) is the year the Secretary takes office. So the Rios-Geithner notes should be designated as Series 2009 even if for some reason they don't go to press until after the year is over. Compare Series 1993, which had its first printing in April 1994.
The new 100's will be a 2009 series - so hurry up already... From the BEP updates the new $100 FRN is going to be sweet. New here - nice Notes forum!
i have heard alot of 'rumors' about the new 100's ... but no images. Without the images, any one of the rumors could prove to be nothign more. so, we shall have to wait and see when they come out!
