Went to my bank this morning and asked for $10 in pennies. Sure, no problem and she comes back with 20 rolls of BU Lincoln Professional rolls. So I then go to five branches of the the same bank and come away with rolls of the old stuff - not a BU roll to be found.

I seacrh rolls every day.. constant exchange of coins .. I had to open 3 bank accounts.. I get a couple boxes of Halves one in a while.. I have nearly 400 1965-69 40% Silver and 68 1964 90% even a few Franklins.. all for face value.. I also have about 200 pounds of mixed Pre-83 Pennies.. just hoarding and have not look through for errors yet..
It is a hoarding issue I think.. Maybe I need a Doctor.. A Coin Doctor?

Searched another box of halves, no silver. Only keepers were 2 2009 D's.

That was my 5th box in a row without any silver :(

But I had one more box and FINALLY broke through.

    This box had one 05, one 03s, and 3 40%ers and one 45 Walking Liberty :D :) :D.

    About time!

Tough luck man. It gets me thinking though...
The halves appear to be the last refuge of findable silver, but that well is quickly drying up.
Now that so many people are doing this, is it going to reach a point where there is really nothing left to search for? Everything worth finding will already be in the hands of the collectors? I hate to see that, especially arriving as late to the party as I did.
Is there any new "treasure" to be found after all the "old treasure" is gone?
    Darn, sorry for the downer...
Thoughts on what the next "it" coins are going to be?

    I also picked up 5 rolls of nickels today and just searched them and found only 2 pre-1960 coins: a 1954 and a 35% silver 1945 D in Fine :D :) :D

That is my 3rd silver nickel find in the past three to four months, and I really don't search too many rolls, and have never gotten a whole box or anything close to it.

Today: 3 banks visited on the way to and from work, 2 90% halves, 3 40% halves and one 35% nickel. Nice silver finds. It was a good day!!!

My BEST find.. One day.. went to get as many rolls of Halves the bank had..They had 200.00 and I had 160.00 on me.. I got what I could and in my car as I opened the first roll.. All 1969 in AU.. Each roll after was about the same.. all year rolls from '64 to '69 and All in AU.. AHHH!!! I ran to My bank and pulled the $$ out and got the last few rolls.. I still have them and because of this post am going through them today looking for errors..
I felt bad since it must have been from a kid hitting the Grand Parents stash.. or a someone with no clue as to silver value.. It was when silver was over 20.00oz.. I just put it away..
Hope I find some nice ones today!!
As I look at this 1965 roll now... WOW.. so nice.. AU!!! All of them!!

There are those people that we thrive upon who cash out there silver at coin machines or bank tellers who may or may not know that they are changing out silver for face value. I belive those people will always be out there. Hopefully.

I was shut out all day for halves. One step behind all the other half searchers in my area. I stopped in the last bank before home and the teller had 4.00 in halves so I bought em. When she dumped em on the metal counter top they made that sweet sound we like to hear. 5 out of the 6 were silver! 1 64 and 4 40%ers.:)
