I always turn my head and close my eyes. I am not one of those people who enjoys watching a needle penetrating their skin! The person who gave me my first Pfizer shot was so skilled that I quite literally felt nothing. My son, who was with me, had to confirm for me that I actually got the shot!
@Curtismo Those are all great but that Julian II Siliqua is top notch! I've not seen many of them. It has some nice blue toning too. Love it
Congrats - I was able to sign up today - looking forward to doing my part to squash the virus. I'll throw in a favorite SALVS (Goddess of Health) - which you will notice says VIR VALE on the reverse which reads "Goodbye, Virus" in Latin. virus Latin for poison, slimy liquid, a potent juice vale Latin for good-bye Man. Acilius Glabrio, circa 49 BC, AR Denarius Obv: SALVTIS, Laureate head of Salus right Rev: MN • ACILIVS - III VIR VALETV, Valetudo standing left, leaning on column, holding serpent Ref: Crawford 442/1a (SALVTIS upwards)
Oh, Don't forget everyone - Once you get your vaccine, you can get a free donut from Krispy Kreme every day for the rest of the year. Now comes the next pandemic - Type 2 diabetes
As with my coin collecting, I drew the half price option from our friends Julian and Jovian. We are given no choices so it will be interesting to see which pan out and which do not. I remain interested in hearing what they come up with for boosters and whether it is necessary for each subsequent dose to match or better if they don't. Julian II & Jovian I maintain it is not over until it is, once again, illegal to wear a mask when you go into a bank.
T-Bone was emperor during the Cyprian plague, so these Victory reverse types seem appropriate: Trebonianus Gallus, AD 251-253. Roman AR antoninianus, 3.46 g, 22.2 mm, 5 h. Rome, 6th officina, 5th issue, AD 253. Obv: IMP CAE C VIB TREB GALLVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust (viewed from back) of Trebonianus Gallus, right. Rev: VICTORIA AVGG, Victory standing left, holding wreath and palm. Refs: RIC 48a; Cohen/RSC 128; RCV 9656; Hunter 23. Trebonianus Gallus, AD 251-253. Roman AR antoninianus, 3.5 g, 21 mm. Antioch, third officina, 1st series, AD 251-252. Obv: IMP C VIB TREB GALLVS P F AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust, right, ••• below bust. Rev: VICTORIA AVG, Victory advancing right, holding wreath in right hand and palm frond in left; no officina marks. Refs: RIC 95; Cohen 127; RCV 9655; Hunter, p. cvi. Notes: Scarce. Only two examples (1 in the Dorchester hoard and 1 in the Tulln hoard) are to be found among the 949 coins of Antioch representing 11 hoards summarized by Metcalf (p. 87). The handful of examples illustrated online are all of the 3rd series. Trebonianus Gallus, AD 251-253. Roman debased AR antoninianus, 3.88 g, 21.4 mm, 12 h. Congrats! Here is Canada we're quite a bit behind the USA as far as the vax goes... only hitting 70+ yr olds at the moment.. we will get there.... its a race between the vaccine, the variants and the 3rd wave it seems. I did get the shingrix vaccine yesterday .. so shingles will be off the table (or vastly reduced) after the second dose in a couple of months... so if I am still here unscathed after shingrix (X2) and Covid (X2) vaccines this year it should pretty much put to bed anyone's worries . Someone's got to do it!
I'd say that's a BIG Victory FF, Congrats! I should get my second Pfizer next week. Here's to more Victorys
My wife and I had COVID19 during Christmas and New Years holidays. I've never been that sick. After 3+ weeks of misery we started to rebound. Our doctor said we were "Long Haulers". Wouldn't really be back to normal until mid June. Recommended to wait with vaccination until May. I have no pics of Ancients, so I'll post my pics in the world section when I am ready. Regarding "Herd Immunity", as big as I am, I am a herd all by myself. Take that CDC.

Great coins everyone. Glad you and the wife are on the mend @tibor . I wasn’t too worried about the 2nd shot since the first didn’t bother me one bit. Well, it is 245am and I’m on cointalk... Every muscle and joint in my body aches. I’ve got crazy waves of nausea and vertigo. And to cap it off, a low grade fever. If anyone got the license plate of the truck that hit me, let me know. Oh well, it is all for the better. One more person vaccinated means hopefully many more who won’t get the disease.
That seems to be common for Moderna recipients I know. The first is nothing and the second is hard. That brings up the question of whether the reaction is good in a sense since you know you got the vaccine. Locally one Kroger pharmacy had to call back a bunch of people who were given saline rather than vaccine due to poor training. That sort of thing leaves those of us without reactions wondering if we got the Kroger version. Experts on TV act like they have the answers. People who are always certain of the answers worry me.
