Hey Guys.. Do you think these guys on Ebay that sell "UN-SEARCHED" (LOL) rolls own crimping machines.. I look at the past feedback of ALL sellers and always see these guys buying in bulk.. Then suddenly have Rolls for sale..
It is that or they must be buying rolls cheaper through the Metal Exchange sites Like APMEX.
    Any Guesses?
Heck one guy last week had Great looking old wrapper wax covered rolls he "found" in an old navy desk and had to be pre 1945.. they looked great, each one marked with the name of the ship it was for.. then I looked back in his feedback and see he bought bulk cheap wheat's.. and some of the past buyers had said they found a few Memorial.
I Don't Trust Ebay Rolls.. Unless they are silver and under or near melt value.

I actually talked to a customer in a coin shop who enlightened me. he was buying nickels for his rolls, then having the dealer dip them so he could say he didn't dip them. Used a roll crimper and put coins in, based on how high the auction went. :(

I see those hand crimped ones.. they are pretty easy to spot.. its those Vintage paper rolls with tight ends that get me..
I just don't trust Ebay rolls.. too easy to fake.
Thanks for the Info.. I hope you punched that guy right in the nose... and I am a pacifist.. lol

no, i just took what the said into consideration as I was thinking of buying some of those rolls. I would have a hard time hitting someone for being a dirtball. My arms would be tired if I did that all the time.

I would add that a roll counting machine is affordable (around $1000), so if a dealer who dealt with a lot varieties and BU coins was so inclined, they could just re-roll them in roll paper and re-sell them. I have never seen vintage roll paper for sale anywhere (just new paper) but if one searched hard enough and got lucky, maybe someone could at least find paper from the '70s or 80s.

There are definitely re-rolled rolls that have been crimped on eBay. Easy to spot so long as the seller posts pics (of both ends) of the actual roll for sale. It is surprising how many rolls have been rifled through in the past. I had a dispute with a seller who sent a previously opened '74 Lincoln roll...ridiculous.
    are
...Rolls sell for far too much anymore - especially on eBay!

I just bought a roll of cents with an IHC on one end, never again. Even though it was only about $7. dollars, I knew when I opened the roll it was not original, don't trust these jerks, they make a living off unsuspecting and honest people. Now on the other hand I just bought a bulk of cents from FISHADDICT and he plainly stated the cents had been gone through and decribed down to the gram, what this lot contained. Got the cents and they were great!!!!

That's ridiculous. The idiot is being dishonest anyway, so why doesn't he want to lie? I guess that makes it right. :desk:

Every time you see the word "unsearched" on ebay, just replace it with "bogus"

Example: Grandfather's Estate Unsearched Wheat Rolls, 1896 IHC and 1857 FEC showing on ends.

Grandfather's Estate Bogus Wheat Rolls, 1896 IHC and 1857 FEC showing on ends

Many listings will say "unsearched by me"... yeah, just have your buddy do it for you, and you're not technically lying. I'd be more likely to buy from a guy that claimed they are almost positively all common dates, but if you find a semi-key or key date you get a bonus!
