Is the UHR double Eagle a 1 year only coin? If so it would seem that this would be a better buy than the 2009 Buffalo proof. The mintage is over 100,000 at the moment, but if this is it I believe it will appreciate more than the 09 Buff.
Supposed to be a 1 year, but many people are getting them. If I were in the market, I would buy 1 already graded at around melt.
Just depends on how many coins they will make of the Buffalo... Still hopin' they make a UHR out of Palladium.
We really don't know what will be a good buy yet. One of the early concepts that was very tough for me to learn was for me not to necessarily equate mintage with value. I can thank people like GDJMSP (Doug) and Hobo (Bruce) and many others for drilling it into my head that value is largely dependent on demand. For example, you could have a coin such as a First Spouse coin with less than 5k mintage and have no value because there is no demand or you can have a UHR with a mintage over 100k, but have incredible demand, thus have a more value coin. (These are being used as examples and not as stated facts) I stated this a while back on another thread.... Just plug in the coins in question to where you think they may fall. If you've got $24,021. laying around, Apmex is selling 20 OZ Austrian Philharmonics goldies with a USA limit of 2009 coins!! Comes out to $1201.05 ($113.05 over spot) Maybe if our 5 wealthiest could get together they could get one!!
Well, this coin hasn't anything to do with this thread but I will endulge: Apmex have had these 20 oz. Austrian Philharmonics on pre-order/sale for about a month now. I posted about them back on 10.02.09 I just entered did elaines Apmex in-stock trick by inserting all 9s in the quantity field and it says they have 29 of the 20 oz. Aus Phil coins in stock! How about this one, I think it's even bigger... and purported to be the 'world's largest gold COIN'!!!
It WAS the biggest for awhile but Canada bested it a year or two ago with a 100 kilo piece with a face value of a million dollars.
With regard to the UHR, I just recieved mine and have been contimplating on whether to get it graded or just leave it in the mint box. Any suggestions?
