As someone who was active on the forums back then, when the cut off was announced the coins still were not available and the first supplies of them DID come from a forum member in Puerto Rico. No one else was able to find any while he was able to get boxes of them. He was selling individual pieces and rolls on line and making a killing, $5 to $10 for an individual coin, a couple hundred dollars for a roll. For something like a month and a half he was the only source, and some of the other early online sellers were getting their coins from him. Of course eventually other sources of supply came along and prices dropped.
Thanks for the correction. I read the President ordered that but can,t remember where. Guess that really isn't,t logical that he would have done that!!!
Weirdest thing, John. Picked up a box of nickels last weekend and went through it. Wouldn't you know...3 2009 D's. I've never found more than 1 in a box before then. Very strange!!
Some 2009 p nickels in Buffalo. No dimes at all. Beat up cents & quarters. All D’s are tuff for the most part around here
