You may be correct as I generally don't remember a less than the "top tier" TPG, returning a coin with a "details" rating without a stated reason/condition.

I've hundreds of certified "top tier TPG" coins with no reason, merely stated "Genuine".

Many of the "Genuine" coins were previously high grade coins, from a competitors slab, including "top tier" that the present grader may have sensed an unknown "anomaly". LOL

P.S.: Neither the fields or details on this "Gem" coin have virtually any marks visible to the naked eye, with uniform luster.

Your post was basically contradicting what was quoted.

That said the genuine rating is an option, the submitter chose that they didn't sense anything and know the issue, they just labeled it as the submitter requested

Do you think there may be a connection between past and present claims/advertising relative to other TPG?

Do you remember many entities as Enron, whose successes continued as it became one of the few Internet-related companies to survive the burst of the dot-com bubble in 2000 relatively unscathed, and is named as the "most admired" corporation by Fortune magazine for the sixth year running?

I don't know, Google "coin grading/TPG". Is PCGS being/has been sold?

I believe we both have valid suggestions!

ICG and ANACs supply a nice niche. I am glad they are around ! :D

We are also fortunate to have folks who work/worked at those firms (and PCGS/NGC) posting here at CT.

The parent company was sold close to a billion dollar valuation. The card market is and has been on fire and was a major reason for it

Ask the auction houses how they feel the hierarchy is.

I corrected the response that I believe you felt was a contradiction. Genuine isn't a grade-type statement, but a fact of where the coin was produced, etc.. I also have many coins with a Genuine plus a details statement.

This is a possible case I would love to argue with you for an appreciable wager before a sworn jury or my odd-numbered debate and voting group. I try to avoid hear-say and opinion that can't be proven as fact or consensus without bias by publication.

Yes, a month. I called them to find out what happened to my coin and they me that since it was a foreign coin it was taking more time. "Ripley's, Believe It Or Not."

One month does not seem to be an inordinate unacceptable period of time. It certainly is not a factor I would use to determine a TPG is lacking in some manner of customer attention. There are avenues of instant gratification, for the person that desires same. Pay $ for expedited service, as an example, comes to mind.

I do not and have not read anything that supports the original premise of the Thread, of superiority of a TPG over another TPG, and less so, when the premise is based on a single coin submission.

What is the comparison of third party graders being offered by the OP, that supports any clear convincing determination of, at the very least, a favorable comparison between TPGs, based on the product sought, which is a grading opinion by a Third Party?

I need more than a memory stick. That is no more or less than an imaging service, and an imaging service is offered by another TPG, and still has to be paid for the extra service, the same as with a memory stick.

micbraun, posted: "CAC could accept ICG/ANACS coins, too. Assuming many of them are overgraded, CAC could simply NOT put a sticker on them.

Of course they could ;) and that would bring in more business/money :greedy: (which they probably don't need); HOWEVER, if they started gracing other services slabs, that would just indicate that correctly graded and desirable coins  are also commonly found in second tier (less popular, faster, less expensive, better customer service :jawdrop: :D) slabs! Why would the "big :cigar: boys" want that? :stop:
It would upset the "Take it or leave it" status quo :p established for decades.

As for one month turn around...There is no time limit for foreign coins. AFAIK, other TPGS take that long. I'm presently doing a hundred coin box of foreign coins (1600's-1900's) that is going out within 10 working days.

PS I'm very interested to know what that coin is BECAUSE small foreign coin orders go out as fast as US coins.

Little secret folks...I'm not commenting on what goes on at IGG or any present grading service but this might be possible:

Just suppose fully processed, packed and ready to ship orders SIT AROUND FOR DAYS :p:D so that those folks do not get the same speed as the folks who PAY FOR and GET faster turnaround times.
