Hey all, Looking for a resource to translate the inscription on the rear of two coins i picked up (Hadrian and Antinious Pius Silver Denarius). I found a couple sources that break down the front inscriptions but haven't found much for the rear. thanks
Hi. It would be helpful if you could rotate your photos of the rear of the coins to a 12-6 axis so they can be read more easily. Enlarging the photos also would help.
The coin on left looks like TR POT XIX - COS IIII. Which translates: "holder of Tribunician power for the 19th time, Consul for the 4th time. These are old Roman Republican magistrate powers granted to the emperor. They are useful for dating the coins. I highly recommend Klawans, Reading and Dating Roman Imperial Coins. A great book for beginners looking to understand and interpret these sorts of inscriptions.
The top(left?) looks to say TR POT (something) COS (some number) The bottom (right) looks like it says PM TRP COS III

Ya i know the quality is questionable trying to figure out how to get better photos out of my phone it struggles with the close ups
Here are some better pics i was able to grab figured out the graph paper was messing with my camera's focus
The second one looks like it simply says PM TRP COS III on the reverse, with SAL AVG in the exergue under Salus's throne. I can't see the obverse it goes with, but suspect it's probably Hadrian
