So, what do you do if the Post Office tracking shows "delivered", but it's not in your mailbox?

I was supposed to have two packages delivered today from Ron Landis Studios. Two separate tracking numbers. Both show as "DELIVERED" but only ONE package was in the mail box.

Business box, not residential. The package that did arrive was ripped open, but the contents were still inside. The missing package, mailed on the same day, to the same address - not there.

WTF? What do I do now? Post Office says they did their job. NOT!

I'm so pizzed off I could spit.

These were irreplaceable, one of a kind, historical items from GMM archives, minted in 1991 and 1993 . . . . .

Contact NCIC and file a missing / stolen mail report, http://numismaticcrimes.org/report-form/ , stating the facts as you know them, and be prepared to support your position with whatever you have, including statements from any witnesses you have. This may at least get someone higher at the USPS than the local postmaster to look into your complaint.

By the way, all 3 services (USPS, FEDEX & UPS) know damn well that theft is being perpetrated from within their ranks, and not enough is being done about it.

I think this is happening more frequently than is being reported. I also think dishonesty is on the rise and takes many different forms.

Ripped open?? That does need to be reported.

I tried calling the "usual numbers" and even tried reporting it as a "lost package."

No one answers the local or 800 numbers that used to get answered, and the "lost package" web page is useless. It says I cannot claim it as a lost package because it was "delivered."

One of the issues that I am dealing with is that I work in a 12 story building. If the azzhat put the package in the wrong box, I am at the mercy of the honesty of the other 60 businesses in this building, and half of the building is empty since COVID started. Could be in a box that hasn't been opened in months.

Yeah, the ONE package that arrived had it's bottom ripped. The contents were still inside, thank GOD . . . . .

Package #2, the heavier and more expensive of the two, is the one that is missing.

I looked into the website. Not sure this would get much traction with them. The items ARE irreplaceable, but purchased value was only $300.

Good luck with that Z... i've had a few "misdelivered" to my neighbors before.. Lucky for me I have generaly honest neighbors (either that or they've seen my sharp and pointy collection and prefer not to get a closer look...) :D :D

One more thing . . . if you haven't handled the contents of the ripped package
I thought it would be worth a try, but it may not be worth it to you.

Time for a call to your District Office or Postal Inspectors. You need to file a complaint about:
    1) Receiving the package that was open
    2) Not receiving the 2nd one that says
    delivered, and
    3) Against your local post office

If possible, I would try to personally speak to your mail carrier first.

The issue is, the only "witness" is whoever marked it as "DELIVERED."

I need to see if it "shows up" tomorrow or not. I did finally find one USPS web page where I could complete a complaint. I indicated "suspected theft" of the package and gave all the details above. Here is the response I received from the Post Office.

They show up through a back door to the loading dock in the 12 story building I work in anytime between 1:00pm and 7:00pm, and go straight to the "mail room." They never come up to the floor that we are on, unless signature is required. No idea when they will show, or WHICH driver will show. We get rotating goons delivering stuff to this business address,

You need to go down to your local Post Office with your tracking number in hand. They can GPS the delivery scan to see where it was delivered. If it was delivered to the wrong address they can see that and tryto recover the package.

Sounds like the delivery will be to your 12 story address, whichbin the postal service eyes, it was delivered correctly. Have you tried the internal mail room as they may have missorted it.

Edit to add, that internal mail room may not have sorted it at all.

I've had that happen before where it showed delivered but wasn't there. It showed up the next day. Was about to freak out myself.

Internal mail room is not staffed. It's just the back room where the Postal workers have access to the rear of the boxes us businesses pick up from.

Only access to this space is by USPS. Building management claims not to have the key, which I doubt.

Then I would suggest leaving a note on the door for the carrier. He probably misdelivered it.

What is ironic is that I had two packages from the same sender arrive on the same day. Both stated delivered, both addressed to me, both the same size package.

I only get one, the "lighter" of the two packages (and least expensive).

    I'mma really fuming . . . . . .

Insult to injury, I won't be at the office tomorrow until AFTER the Postal goons come and go. I have out of office meetings until mid afternoon.
