Way to go Cave! You were there ready with the knowledge and the capital to close the deal.

You mentioned selling on eBay. If you have done so before, could you be so kind as look at my question in the "Silver" thread on this board, and walk us through a $1,000 eBay transaction example.

Thanks for always being so straight-forward.

No problem Willie, I just did it. One thing I should mention ... I'll just go edit that post so that all the info is in one place.

CT - more importantly, you're an honest man. You didn't take advantage of the woman, but did exactly the right thing to make sure she obtained a fair price. Congratulations on that are in order too.

    Great point, Cloud.

Recently, a pharmacist told me she just received her deceased grandfather's coin collection, and had no idea what to do with it. I told her to obtain several bids in writing from local coin dealers, and then perhaps do some internet research to determine whether she wanted to keep or sell it. Right or wrong, I told her she might then try to sell it for say ten percent above the highest quote, if she decided to sell. I haven't seen her there again, because the chain seems to rotate pharmacists around, but Cave's purchase makes me want to follow up. At the time, I certainly didn't want to go further with advice because I'm not a numismatic expert by any stretch. But there is nothing wrong with potentially profiting from a fair and and honest private purchase.

Just went through one box and there isn't a heck of a lot to write home about:
    1964-D BU
    1966 1
    1967 3
    1968 5
    1969 1
    2005-D BU

I guess that after my last couple boxes, which were amazing, I was a little disappaointed. I know that this was about average, but I still love those loaded boxes. Well, I have another box waiting, so I'd better get to work. Who knows, it could be 50 rolls of BU Walkers.

Heck, I had a dream last night that I found 3 Franklins while I was roll searching. I'd never before dreamt about searching coins. Maybe that is a good omen? I picked up 75 rolls today.....

    The second box was better:
    1954-D 1
    1964 1

    1965 1
    1966 3
    1967 8
    1968 7
    1969 4

    2004 D BU
    1982-S Proof

And last, but certainly not least, my first 1974-D DDO. I always pull the 1974-D's to check for the DDO, but usually just give them a quick glance before tossing them back in with the rest. I looked at the coin, tossed it in the bag, and then said wait a second. I quickly pulled it back out and checked it again. Sure enough, a DDO in AU! By the way Bigs, don't worry too much about that dream. After roll searching, I close my tired eyes and still see those Kennedys.

Nice finds. Can you post a picture of the DDO?
I don't generally look for them because it slows me down and requires too much focussing. I'd love to see one just in case I do come accross one.

Way to go on the DD--I look for the 74 everynow and them but since I'm not in to DD I don't much...my dealer has one that he thought was a good XF...he wanted $75--he sent to to a grading Co. and it came back MS62--so now its way over $125!

Honestly, I'm not into double dies either. So this one is getting sold. The only thing that I haven't decided yet is whether or not to bother slabbing it.

Eh, I'm not worried about the dream, but it turned out to be just that- a dream. I sorted 50 rolls yesterday and found:

    1966- 1
    1968- 3
    1969- 2

Still got 25 rolls to peruse plus searching for Dansco candidates. A little over a week to go before I've been at this for a year.
