You would know if it were the real deal.... I know that the genuine 55 DD has already been posted. I just like to have an excuse to post mine... It's still new to me... LOL
Poor man's DD,that was my first thought but I'm leaning more towards DDD isn't that a ridge ring up top or am I seeing things?
No but it looks like the poor man's Doubled Die. One you see a 2955 Doubled Die you'll never have to ask again.
na i think its just deterioration. I posted it because on Liberty it shows signs of something. Anyway, the guy with the 1979 avatar I actually found a 1979 D cent with two different color layers on the outer ridge edge lol. Could it be an error of teo different metals. copper and zinc?
Its a poor mans double die. Worth a little more than your average wheat penny. about $1 in that condition. Here is something I found about it. https://coinquest.com/cgi-bin/cq/co...nd a single one of,time in a slipped position.
Copper tones in some wild colors. There are instances of coins with improperly mixed alloys. This is where the copper tin and zinc do not mix evenly. Start a new thread about the coin. It is hard to answer with out photos. As for the 55 you posted. These ARE referred to as the poor mans doubled die. What you are seeing in liberty is also die deterioration. I was only stating that these are not true "Doubled Dies" by definition.
