I'm probably wrong but does this 1999 D show the same die clash although not as sharp as the MUDC-1c-1999-01? And if so how would it be possible coming from the Denver mint? Thanks again
It isn't possible coming from the Denver mint. It might have a die clash in the same area because all pennies look alike and would clash the same on that year. (although can't tell from pictures) And I don't see any doubling either.
Yes, it is possible for a pair of dies to clash at the Denver Mint, and the clash may appear to be nearly the same as a clash struck at the Philadelphia Mint. However, they would be considered "cousins", not "brother and sister". FWIW, I don't see a clash on your coin.
This is the coin the OP is referring to. Amy D Antone found it and posted it here on CT. 1999 cent with mule clash | Coin Talk It is a mule die clash. http://www.maddieclashes.com/mudc-1c-1999-01/ By the way Bargain bidder your cent cannot be a match to the one posted above. Can you show better photos of what you are seeing?
I'd like the name and contact information for your optometrist because I can't see anything but a crappy Zincoln. No offense. Maybe in hand, under close scrutiny it looks different.
I’ve looked several times at your pics and do not see a match with the true mule, in fact, I do not see any clashing at all that comes close...in hand, you may see something faint, but, honestly, if it is there, it is not robust enough to make a difference...jmho...Spark
How can I forget when I never heard of the thing? This once simple pleasure of a hobby is getting soooo complicated.
